Absence or Returning Stududents
Kumon Center Policy
- Kumon is not a day-care center. Please ensure to pick up your child directly after his/her class time has concluded as to minimize center distractions and assure the optimal safety of your child.
- Please have your students come to class prepared with complete pencils, erasers, and completed homework.
- Students are assigned a time slot; please do not be late.
- If you are late, please pick up the homework and take it home so that the next student still gets their time slot.
Communication/Email
- Communication is extremely important for the most optimal results for your child.
- Please provide a valid email address, your monthly invoice will be sent out via email.
- Please check the website for hours, updates, and closure dates.
- If you are needing to reach the instructor during class hours, please leave a voicemail via phone or send us a text to the number we will give you after your child has enrolled. The instructor will reach out to you at his earli1est convenience.
- We no longer use the Remind app to communicate with parents. Instead, once your child has enrolled, you will get a text from us with a phone number to use for communication with us via text.
Payment methods
- Tuition is due the first week of every month. If tuition is not paid by the 7th of the month, there will be a $20 late fee charged to your account.
- Payment methods
- Zelle – is an e-payment from your bank app. This is a service your bank already has inside your bank app, under money transfer. It is a free service from your bank.
- Inside the app, add a new Recipient, enter my cell phone number (503)807-1003
- Auto-pay – Will deduct directly from your checking or saving monthly.
- Required at least one-week advance notice to stop the auto-pay
- My preferred methods are Auto-Pay or Zelle. If you decided to use another form of payment, please note that you will have to pay the extra fee costs yourself. For example, if your monthly tuition is $150 and you have to send me the full amount. Not $150 minus the fees, (like $150.00 – $5.00 fees = $145.00).
- Zelle – is an e-payment from your bank app. This is a service your bank already has inside your bank app, under money transfer. It is a free service from your bank.
Cancellation
- To cancel the Kumon Program without unnecessary expense, please notify me before the beginning of the month you are planning to cancel. Failure to do so will result in a full month of tuition being charged as your student’s lesson planning has already been completed.
Pick-up Work
- If you cannot bring your child(ren) in during class hours and want to pick up homework for them after hours, please send a text to the phone number we gave you and my staff will put their homework outside on the window. You can pick them up anytime.
Vacation Option
- Please allow a minimum 1-week advance notice for vacation worksheet preparation. Worksheets will then be available for pickup on the student’s regular class day.
Absence or Returning students
- Students who are on vacation or absent for over 1 full month will return as new students.
- New students will have to re-enroll and take new placement tests for new materials. This is because students’ mental skills will change and we will have to re-test to find out their “just right” level again, as well as having to re-do their record books and re-prep their work again. Therefore, it is much more beneficial for the student to remain enrolled if at all possible (Take their homework on vacations and holidays, etc vs. quitting and re-enrolling). In addition, students will lose their accumulated Kumon Plus Points and have to restart accruing points.
- Stop and re-enroll will also be subject to new tuition rates and fees
Holidays & Closures
- We follow the Portland School District’s Schedule for Holidays & Closures.
- There are no refunds or discounts during closures.
- An email will be sent out prior to any closure.
